The furious passengers in the car behind – later confirmed by the police to be from the army – jumped down from their car and, after allegedly showing their army badges, attacked Chandana, striking him on his left cheek.Chandana, 32, visited hospital for treatment. A complaint was lodged withthe police, and investigations are under way. The army was informed of the incidentand an informal apology was made on Saturday evening. Chandana was selectedfor Sunday’s game in the team meeting that evening.
